Preparing the Next Generation of Leaders
The Inkwell Leadership Institute connects high-potential students with mentorship, leadership development, and networks that open doors to opportunity.
We work with high-potential students in grades 9–12 and early college seeking mentorship, leadership development, and exposure to opportunities that can shape their futures.
Why This Work Matters
Across the United States — and especially in cities like Boston and Atlanta — young people from under-resourced communities face disproportionate barriers to education, career exposure, mental health support, and long-term economic mobility.
Research shows life expectancy can vary by more than 20 years depending on neighborhood, and inequities in education and workforce access limit opportunity for millions of students.
Anchored by a summer leadership residency on Martha’s Vineyard — a historic gathering place for Black leadership, creativity, and intellectual life — the program connects students with mentors, innovators, policymakers, and entrepreneurs who converge on the Island each summer.
By bringing students into this unique environment, Inkwell provides the relationships, exposure, and confidence that help expand what young leaders believe is possible for their lives and communities.
