Summer Leadership Residency - Martha’s Vineyard
A transformative summer experience on Martha’s Vineyard where students gather to learn, build community, and engage with leaders across industries.

Who is Eligible
High-potential rising 9th–12th graders and early college-age students from under-resourced or historically excluded communities — defined by inequitable access to leadership opportunities, early-career exposure, and economic mobility.
This includes, but is not limited to, Black, Latino, and other youth of color who are disproportionately impacted by systemic inequities.

The Inkwell Leadership Institute is designed for high-potential students in grades 9–12 and early college who are seeking leadership development, mentorship, and exposure to new opportunities. The program focuses on students from under-resourced or historically excluded communities who may not otherwise have access to leadership networks, career exposure, or mentorship opportunities.

The Inkwell Leadership Institute includes three core components:
A Summer Leadership Residency on Martha’s Vineyard
Year-round leadership development and mentorship
A national alumni network that provides continued opportunities, internships, and career pathways
Together, these components provide students with the mentorship, skills, and exposure needed to grow as leaders.

Students are selected through an application process that considers leadership potential, curiosity, commitment to growth, and interest in making an impact in their communities. The program seeks students who will benefit from mentorship, leadership training, and exposure to new opportunities.

Martha’s Vineyard has a long history as a gathering place for Black excellence, leadership, and creativity. Each summer, leaders from across industries spend time on the Island, creating a unique environment where students can meet and learn from professionals, policymakers, and innovators.
The setting provides both inspiration and meaningful exposure to leadership and opportunity.

The Institute is launching in Boston, but it is designed to grow into a national leadership pipeline. The organization is already exploring partnerships with youth-serving organizations in other cities, including Atlanta, with plans to expand access to students across the country over time.
